Surya Namaskar(Sun Salute) for good health


In the olden days, people were doing exercises for the fitness of their bodies in order to regulate the blood flow in a sequential manner from top to bottom. Fitness speaks about the person’s health conditions of the body. Earlier, the uncivilised people were hunting animals for their food by the way of running, walking, crawling, lurking and physically searching for food, as if the body activities were more on that period for the survival of their human lives. In those periods the people were in the work of making an instrument for the animals hunting, hence more physical related work was there, their intelligence and ideas were focused on hunting the animals for their food and making the instrument for hunting. So many years had passed away, the people knowing about the cultivation of crops and grains and other items for food, the people were used to eat the soft animals for food, hence, their physical activities happened a maximum of cultivation of land related works only, in those periods a large amount of animals hunting had been reduced to a minimum level.


Few sectors of the People were habituated with cultivation and other segments of the people desire to learn the education, day by day more educational attitudes had grown in the minds of the people. Educated people working in the king's administration in the form of different power and administering people. It further reduced the physical activities of the people significantly. In the absence of physical activities, a large segment of the people searching for the maintenance of body fitness, eventually, had reached the different types of fitness exercises. In the kings period, people practised the kinds of fitness exercises in the form of wrestling, knife fight, horse fight, elephant fight, artillery fight and some of them practised swimming in the river, the sea and well, running practise for maintain health.


Even in today's world, people are practising various fitness exercises such as walking, running,  swimming and cycling. Some people have trained in the field of various kinds of martial arts such as karate, kung fu, dakewando, etc. These are all one way helping them for keeping their body fit. In India, people are practicing yoga for fitness, in these yoga methods, there is a significant method that has been followed as Surya Namaskar. So many kings practised, this method of Surya namaskar, in English, we say, Sun Salute. People believe that Sun Salutation is one of the methods in Yoga, this gives much more energy, peace and a satisfied mind to the one who practises it. This Surya  Namaskar consists of 12 postures (asanas), which help people to restore their energy for the whole day, this yields freshness over the body, and they get much more confidence in their day-to-day activities. The people practising Surya Namaskar are living without any diseases even after 80 and 90 years, this method helps in to maintain courage and confidence with purity in the mind and the body for the entire lifetime.


Guru’s practising such asanas namely, Surya namaskar, this 12 posture stands to praise the sun’s twelve names, this yogic process brings smooth functioning of inhalation and exhalation in the body during the lifetime. As I am practising such a Surya Namaskar, I am enjoying it and have been astonished by the maintenance of the body fitness after doing the Surya namaskar and with great attainment of happiness, peace, confidence, healthy body and mind, no stress, attitudinal blessings. I have been practising the methods for more than 8 years, which has given as many benefits to me. Even, though there was a time when I had suffered from sickness, where I have been recovered as soon as possible from the illnesses. I suffered from joint pain, and sometimes I was not able to walk smoothly, in that occasion I was continuously practising Surya namaskar, which helped me to evade the joint pain.

Surya Namaskars is a great exercise for our good health condition in order to maintain fitness in our body. After doing it only,  the benefits can be identified.
